Hair is 97% protein and 3% moisture. The average
person has one hundred thousand hairs on her scalp, which grow at a rate of .37
millimeters per day, and shed at the rate of fifty to one hundred per day. The factors
that affect hair growth and hair loss include age, health, diet, hormones, seasonal
changes and climate. Trauma, stress, and anxiety also affect growth, because they reduce
the blood and oxygen supply to the scalp, which is essential to healthy hair. Ayurvedic hair treatments, including hair cleansers, use only herbal powders,
herbal essences, and oils. Herbal cleansers wash away the dirt without washing away the
natural moisture. Unlike shampoos, they contain no chemicals or other sudsy agents that
destroy hair protein and strip the natural oils. For weekly conditioning treatments, use

The
Weekly Scalp Massage-
Massage 1 tsp. of Bindi’s Brahmi or Herbal Hair Oil
into scalp for 10 minutes. Wrap head in Hot towel and leave on for 5- 10 minutes. Do once
a week for dry skin or dandruff. The best time for treatment is first thing in the morning
or before bed. Massage increases circulation to the scalp.
